Y-splitters????

Depends on the amp. I have my 4 ch bridged to 2, and it uses the front left and rear right for bridged inputs.
Check your user manual for more specific information.

MY amp is a Alpine PDX.4-150

I still want my head unit to be able to fade left and right front and back. The back speakers running off of my head unit (just for people in the back when there is)

Using the rear inputs on my amp, this will not be possible would it?

Yes it will. Use the front output for the RCA's on your HU. Rear speaker level outputs for the rear speakers.

You will have fade as well as balance.

So you're saying that using 4 RCA's is for separation of channels???
Yes. You need 1 RCA for every channel you are using. 4 channels, 4 rca's (2 pair).

If you bridge the amp, you are turning it into a 2 channel amplifier, therefore only needing 2 RCA's (1 pair)

Now I am starting to get really confused. LOL

So my Head Unit is an Alpine CDA-9887

Comp amp is the PDX.4-150 bridging it to my BA Pro60's (Running passive)

So you are saying run 1 set of RCA's from the head unit's Front output to my PDX amp. 1 channel (Say Red) to the to the front red input and the other (say white) to the rear input of the amp?

The rear speakers are stock and are left alone just plugged in via the wiring harness and will run off the decks internal amp.

Does this sound right then?

Yes.

I looked up the manual for your amp on the Alpine website, but all it did was confuse the shit out of me. It is such a terribly short and horribly written manual. I would shoot Alpine's customer service an email and find out what inputs to use for bridging.

A 4 channel amplifier is still a 4 channel amplifier no matter how the load is connected.

A 4 channel amplifier that is bridged still needs an input for every channel. Some amplifiers may have the ability to direct the signal internally, so some amplifiers may only need to have one pair of RCAs connected.

However, many still need the input from each channel to be delivered to each channel via RCAs connected to each channel's input. In which case the easiest thing to do is run a single RCA cable from the headunit to the amplifier location and use y-splitters to direct the signal to each input.

From the Alpine manual;

Input Channel Selector Switcha) Setting this switch to “1 + 3/ 2 + 4” will sum

the CH-1 and CH-3 input and send it to

CH-3 while the CH-2 and CH-4 inputs are

summed and sent to CH-4.

b) Set this switch to “3/4” to have the inputs of

CH-3/4 accept independent input signals.

An example of this application would be

the use of a head unit with dual pre-amp

outputs.

c) Setting this switch to “1/2” will send the signal

at the inputs of CH-1/2 to CH-3/4 of the

PDX-4.150. This eliminates the need for

“Y”-adaptors when using a head unit with

a single pair of pre-amp output
So, he would want to set the switch to (b) "3/4" and use a y-splitter to send the L signal to channels 1 & 2 which are bridged, and then use a y-splitter to send the R signal to channels 3 & 4.
