Hello there, i have been having this wierd issue.

Here is my car setup:

Raspberry pi computer

                            |

DVD player         |

            |                |

            \ Splitter /

                     |

FM modulater behind headunit

What is the wierd part about this is the fact that when I turn the DVD player on, the raspberry pi works. When I turn the DVD player off, the sound cuts out. What the heck? The pi and DVD player aren't even connected. The only connection made is the splitter. That's it.

Any ideas of the issue?

Thanks,

G

A splitter isn't the right way to toggle between two audio sources.

You must understand that all the connections are in parallel, and as such you're changing the overall perceived resistance that the FM modulator sees
