i got my box ported set tuned to 30 hz. its 4 cf after displacement and this is to large for my trunk... my dad dosnt like it all takin up all the room.. so i guess im going to have to go sealed. ive heard it sealed but it is just not nearly as loud as my ported box... the sealed box i used was 2 cf. and i was wodering if i could jus make the box a bigger like 3 cf would it make any difference output wise? cuz if not im going to sell my subs for a sealed based sub that has excellent sq that will get loud in one... I just dont want to run the xxx to not its max output...

A bigger sealed box will decrease output, not increase it. However, a bigger box may give you slightly better low frequency extension. Also, mechanical power handling would decrease in a larger sealed box.

If you want to increase output, then you need to build a smaller sealed box. However, transient response will be degraded, and it will take away some of the low frequency extension.

I'de give it a try in 2.5 and add some pollyfill. If you don't like the responce then sell it.

you have enough room to port it if you have at least 2.5 ft^3, so why not do that? Youll just have to change the port size/length and may have to tune it a little differently.

i tried that... to port it a 2.5^3 with a round port...

didnt work out the best...

the XXX really does like its space... if you dont have it to give

dont get the sub only to hinder its performance...

which is why i have a small box sub now...

Yeah I would not try 2.5 ported. Just get a sub that requires less space ported or get a smaller sub. Like a 12.
