xxx good upgrade?

I'm looking to upgrade my system and will probably buy a 15"xxx in then next couple of months. So do ya'll think that i would notice an immediate difference in how loud it is compared to my 12" Mag d2. I would only be giving the xxx 1200watts(the same as the mag). I plan on upgrading to 1600 watts in the future. The mag is in 2.5cuft@29hz. I would put the xxx in 4.5cuft@32hz.

the xxx should be louder with both types of power.....although, it will be louder mostly b/c of the larger box, and larger woofer, why not just get a mag d2 15?

I figure by getting a xxx i could always upgrade my amp to some 1600watt amp and get all of the xmax advantage that it has over the 15"mag. Therefore it would be louder and still maintain about the same sq. I love my mag and all but the xxx has more xmax. I also think it looks more sexy. Plus i always like to try something different. I'm just not sure if 1200watts would be enough to move that xxx to any point where it would get loud.

1200 is enough, but imo, unless you're pushing the xxx to it's limits....you shouldn't notice much difference between the two

Do you mean not much of a difference between the 15"xxx and the 15"mag or do you mean not much of a diffence between the 15"xxx and the 12"mag.

the 15 IMO would probably end up being louder due to + cone area.

I've had 1250 on a XXX 15 before, it will get plenty loud...you don't have to worry about that. When you get into the 2k+ range it really starts movin. I would suggest between 1.5k and 2k, you would get all the performance out of it that way and not have to worry too much about killing it. I run 3k on mine now and it takes it, but I am sure that if I really wanted to kill it it wouldn't be that hard. Honestly I am impressed that it hasn't died on me by now, the thing is just that well built\designed.

Alright i'm bumping my old thread, but now i'm gonna ask if an 18"xxx with 1200 watts would be much louder than my system i have now. I would put the xxx in an 8.5-9.0 cubic foot box to make up for some of my lack of power.
