5ft^3 is too much even if I only have like 1600watts rms to give it? I figured 5ft^3 would make up for the power difference since I dont have a ton of power yet
I will probably be upgrading my amp again soon. After I replace my H/O alternator again since it just died a couple weeks ago

altho 4.5ft^3 would be even better so I didnt have to fight as much getting it into my trunk

I figured I would just use one of moe lesters plans for the box unless anybody disagrees with that

I'm sure your tastes are a bit different than mine, but I'm running mine in a sealed enclosure and also using a bit less power than you plan to, but my setup is plenty for me, it's actually too loud at times.

Granted I only listen to heavy metal so I don't need overpowering bass, but it can very well do that when needed, I'm actually afraid my sunroof is going to pop one of these days, it flexes pretty badly.

I disagree. I had 1600rms watts from a hifonics bxi2006 amp, and was hitting 145 on the new TL. It can get very loud w/ 4-4.5 cubes....its all in the box. I have a snailshell, and they dont require an extreme amount of power to get loud. Just get yourself the right box, and you'll be fine w/ that amp for a while.

alright cool, I was really wanting to get an orion 2500d but it would help to save money and stuff

hopefully I can get an irragi alternator here soon to help that amp get the power it needs

and I love that I dont even need 5ft^3 cuz it will make it alot easier to fit in my trunk, I was scared for a sec I might not have enough room

you'll be fine w/ that amp for now. trust me....that sub is amazing, and 1600 watts will get LOUD w/ it. the good thing is you throw 1600 watts @ it, and when you're ready you could double the power if you wanted. also, the more power you push it w/, then you def wont need a huge box.

Im so excited to get the sub, but Im kinda draggin about building the box, I got really busy yesterday hanging out with friends because that was really important

so today Im gonna get started on my box, I only wish I had more building experience, I only helped build my first box for my mtx 12" now I have to build the whole thing so it should be interesting

thanks for all your help and support everybody =) Ill try to take build pics / finished project if Im not too embarrassed about how it turns out lol

P.S.

can I just use this box plan? would the height and everything work for it? all except for only one hole and not two lol

and since Im only using one hole where would the placement of that one hole be, in the very middle of the box or at the end away from the port?

crap....Im a moron...I was outside marking up my sheet of mdf and got almost all of the pieces marked out and I finished marking out the 2nd front baffle when I realized its only 15" cuz I was looking at the overall 16.5 earlier

so I either need new plans or Ill have to go with like the 5ft^3 box that moe lester has plans for...

btw does anybody have the T/S specs for the 2005? cuz the one on RE's website is newer than the one Im getting right? I didnt see an archive section on their website either

It'll fit.

The cutout on the 15 is right about 14 inches, so yea there will be overlap, but but it's not gonna hard anything. Just plan ahead, mark where you want the driver to be, and make sure you don't have a screw that holds the box together in the wrong spot, or it'll be sticking through.

I got all my pieces cut and took pictures, the front baffle is glued and clamped and Ill probably be posting pictures of the build tomorrow

I work graveyard so I have about 4 hours to sleep now before I have to wake up for work

tomorrow is a new day and hopefully Ill have the box starting to come together

you are going to love that thing. what car will it be going in? if it's going in a trunk make sure you have enough of an opening to fit the box in. 4.5cu box is pretty **** big. do add bracing to the box too. i had plans for a 4.0cu tuned to 30hz but don't anymore. though i do have the built box sitting in my closet, lol but i can't find my tape measure. :/

Yer really going to love that sub...

Yeh I was also annoyed that RE doesn't have an archive of the TS and mounting parameters for older subs, like our XXX's. I had to call them to get info.

Only annoying thing about my XXX is occasional tinsel slap, but only audible from the trunk... I may need to replace the pad on the cone... but getting the sub out of the box = a serious chore.

yea I was looking at how I might get that box in my trunk, I might just have to glue it together inside my trunk...lol but hey if thats what I gotta do then it will be worth it later

u should see these braces I bought for my box, they are heavy duty shelving braces with very little airspace, Ill post a pic here maybe tomorrow. I was supposed to be a sleep already but I cant sleep so Im going to start putting the box together and checking out trunk space

I did measure the trunk first and checked it out to make sure it would fit but...trunk opening might be my problem so Im going to hopefully catch the problem before I get that far

good news and bad news...

good news is once I get it in my trunk I have plenty of room

bad news is, it wont fit thru the opening of my trunk....so I basically have to try and build the thing inside my trunk...

altho...if anybody ever tries to steal the box they will come across a big problem

i know nothing about 91 maximas but can the back seat fold down? of so measure that opening(if one) to see if you can slide the box in from there. though i doubt you can.
