XX-Colossus OVERload issues

Alright, I'm not sure what or why this is happening, but my overload light on my XX-colossus flashes whenever the bass hits. Now, I read my manual and it does this do to improper impedence. Well, I don't even have any speakers hooked up to my amp. No speaker wire is touching the speaker terminals, so I dunno why this amp is having the protect OVERLOAD light on. Anybody?

No I don't have it. The bass knob wouldn't do anything anyways, just a remote gain. As far as bass, my car speakers still have bass.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif I just don't know why the overload light is on. I dunno how I'd be clipping it with no subs wired up, the amp is seeing 14.23v-14.38v constant.

sounds like the signal that is coming from the head unit is clipped - how loud are you running the stereo, and what kind of head unit is it?

If you exceed the head unit's volume range where it provides a clean, unclipped signal to the amp, the amp will go into protection mode.

It shouldn't, It's a 2 year old pioneer dh6800 something I don't really know. It has 2v preouts, but I have an audiocontrol line driver feeding the amp 5-7v RMS so the signal is strong. It's been hitting overload at about level 23 when I used play my old system and 1501d off level 42 out of 62. I get the rest of my stuff tomorrow, so I'll install my alt and hc2400 and hopefully install everything this weekend or next weekend to see if it's just the impedence. I just finished running a second line of 1/0 to my front battery which wasn't bad at all, so my amp should be seeing a much better signal now.

could it be your line driver?? they are known to cause problems, cause they give the amp more voltage then the amp can handle. im not sure on the input range of the xx, but most amps i've dealt with are sensitive up to about 5-6v. if you are pushing more than that than that could be you're problem. i've seen the same thing with other amps when using a line driver. just a suggestion, try it without the line driver, and set your gains right.
