XTC Foam Baffles & Dayton 7" RS's

Hey all...

I am rocking the 7" Dayton mids, which to my dismay are not fond of IB installs such as the stock location in the door of my '98 Ranger.

Was wondering what size of XTC baffle to use for my application and if the small size of the baffles' enclsure will help or hurt my sound output on the Dayton Mids.

They have almost NO midbass output at this time in the UNDEADENED doors. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif THey will be amped and get roughly 75-100 RMS from an Alpine amp.

The doors will be deadened with Raamat given time and weather restrictions are lessened.

Also looking for X-over and tweeter options and suggestions to pair with the daytons!

if you can fiberglass, just glass around a coffee can and attach that to a speaker ring. that way you wont waste money on the baffle.
Not a bad idea. I wonder if a coffee can will fit inside the 5x7 holes in my ranger's doors... Just glass the edges and the back end...

See, the problem is is there is no room to work with, i have manual windows so I have to keep the speaker under the window crank. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

So basically I need to find a way to make a midget enclosure inside my door. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/mad.gif.c18f003ab0ef8a0d9c27ca78d77a6392.gif

I dont' really want to modify the door panels but it's looking like I am going to have to cut out the map pockets out and make fiberglass/MDF enclosure in the doors or something. This puts the drivers in your feet/legs though, I'm not too thrilled about that.

Illustration... I have 4 Dayton mids to work with... So why not put ALL the front stage in the front if I'm cutting things, right?

you can just cut away from the mold to fit into your car, then patch it up after it fits in there. i had to work around a brace in my front door this way.

for a 5x7 hole try to oval the coffee can before you glass it. i know it wont be exact but, it should be close.

Ahh, I see! That's very clever. I like this idea... then you fiberglassed the back end of the enclosure too right?

yes the back was sealed. i didnt take any pictures. sorry.

once you have the fiberglass the right size, set it in the door, place the speaker ring up to it, use some tape to hold them in place, take it out and glue or fiberglass them together.

if your talking about the hole in the door panel, i did have to trim some of mine back. i was attempting to put some 8" kicker subs in my door. my stock door opening was 5x7.
