xm radio

There is one downfall for all of the stupid satallite radio companies....the dumbass antenna that you have to put on your car. It looks like crap and I don't see why anyone would want to put that on their car. Just buy a deck that plays Mp3's and life is good.

dude if you get the antanna and your car will look good,i have a 02 mustang and it makes it look like a high tech sports car....and for the rock pop and rap....you would have to be crazye to just get a deck what plys mp3's because you would be a dumba$$ to have dail up to download them and not only that you would need a cdr and the cds and if you got dal or broadband you will be paying about $40.00 or more just for the inter net

Hmm...I've got a Mustang and I think they look stupid. I've got 500+ mp3 albums on my computer right now and about 1000 in my car on about 100 cd's. I've got free cable internet because my roommate works for Cisco and it's paid for. I get music before you've even thought about it...sometimes weeks before the release. CDR's are around 5 cents a piece tops. So you're telling me, that Some stupid satallite radio is better than having over 50,000 songs at my disposal at any one time?

Please....

yes its better,,,so you say your roommat as free internet? ok well most of every one dose not get free internet..plus you said theirs times get music even before it comes out to stores.. hummm have you ever hear of kazaa and imesh ect...i have Terminator 3 and crap like that is not in stores....dont get me wrong but i rather have xm radio than 100 cd's...

buy cd's...support the artists you like..also......i think 100 cd's would be a lot better than the radio...xm or not....you can pick what you want and you have the actual cd.....

if you like the radio i guess it might be worth it but not for me

About the antenna - in strong signal areas, plenty of people have mounted the antenna under a bumper with fine reception. Might not work in the boonies, but if you have good signals, you can get away with hiding the antenna.

And about MP3 - who says that the internet is the only place for MP3s??!?!

95% of my MP3 CDs are ripped from my original discs. I get to have 10-15 albums of what I like on ONE disc, and my originals stay safe at home. When the disc gets all fukked up - burn another.

If you want something you don't have - borrow the disc from a friend, rip and burn.

I hate downloading music - you never know what quality you're getting. By ripping your own, you can control the bitrate and get excellent MP3s.

its funny.hihoslva is 100% right... i took a antenna from my locla car audio shop and me and the owner tested it out and we put it in my car and belive it or not it worked:) but the only down side was that when we when under over passes it cut out for a sec

Mount it on the hat shelf, problem solved. Works great.

Underpasses are an issue sometimes, but they were when I had it on the roof as well. What is sweet though is when you are on the Kennedy in Chicago and you go under a 1/4 mile underpass and get NO dropouts. Metro areas have terrestrial repeater networks, so you never loose the signal!

As for the quality of XM programming, It's totally worth the $10. In fact, I have the Alpine XM tuner in my car, and a Delphi SkyFi I carry with me from the office to home. I especially like the Comedy channel and Fox News. Music programming is awesome too.

Note that the sound quality isn't as good as a decent MP3 or a CD, but when I'm cruising down the highway it sounds decent enough. When you figure in road noise, plus the fact that I'm not always "looking" for every little imperfection in sound it's good enough. Depending on weather I'm at my office or at a client's site downtown Chicago I am on the road between 1 and 2 hours one way to work. Having a variety of programming on hand is vital to me. Hence the reason I have XM, a 6 disc MP3 changer, and the single MP3 player in the head unit itself. I also listen to a lot of AM, so when you compare XM's quality to AM, XM blows that out of the water even for talk stations.
