So i am looking to upgrade my subs. I currently have 1 xfl 12. I had 2 but i sold 1 to my brother. The 2 i had were in a 4.0 cu box tuned to 33hz running off an AB xfl 175.1 I also have a 275A Singer alternator with 2 batteries so i could run the 175.1 at .5 ohm if i have to.

Im looking at upgrading i guess u would say. Say i had a 4.0 CU box with the same amp and if swaped out xfls with hdc3, then with RF T2, then with X brand What would be noticeably louder than the xfls i had?

I see the hdc3 have a 36mm xmax and the xfl only have a 19

Budget on 2 subs is $600-700 tops

2xs hdc4 12s? i paid 275 each for mine... lol but the amp and box would have to go... you want better output id try to look to the enclose and amp prior to subs...

i love hdc subs.... i like the xfls too though...

I only have 4.0 cu to work with. i cant go any higher then 14.5 inches in trunk so a 15" subwoofer is out, unless i do sub up port facing back in a trunk. I had 1 12" t2 on 1500 rms that slammed. Then i got 2 xfl on my AB 175.1 and that slammed but SQ isnt the best. But basically i have 4.0 cu to work with and 3300 rms give or take. I dont WANT to spend 700 but i will if i will notice a good difference.

i also looked at tantric hd, re xxx, re sxx just dont know which would get noticebly louder off same amp and box size then the xfls did.

It's going to be hard to get noticeable output increases since important variables (power, box size, tuning, cone area) won't change as well
i thought some people drop in same subs same power and get like 3 db out of it? Wouldn't a subwoofer with a higher xmax and sensitivity then the xfl make them louder in the same enclosure?

No. There is no one size fits all for a sub. Just like the previous post said there's a multitude of factors that influence each and every situation. You could put in a sub with more xmax and sensitivity, but lose output.

So in my case what would you do? Get another xfl again or go a different route? I like the FI BL, they look nice. Such a hard decision but I narrowed it to AA 3.0, FI BL, and Tantric hd...I think.

depends on your budget. if you can get another xfl and it was loud and you liked it then that seems pretty cheap to me lol but really i would focus on a sub you like and then make sure the enclosure you build for it is correct. you may even want to look at replacing your current box with something better if its not custom. its really up to you what brand and make of sub you choose and then design everything around that, not the other way around

i did like the xfl but they didnt sound the best. My T2 sounded way better. I guess my budget would be 700 for brand new subs. I cant really fit anything bigger then a 4.0 CU box which is what i had but i am gonna have someone else rebuild me one.
