Xdvd700 to 96gmc Sonoma

So here's the dilemma, my 96 gmc Sonoma stereo wires were cut when I bought the car, no clip on the end. I tried hardwired but anything i do I can only get the systems knob to light up. Also I wired the ignition switch to what I thought was my accessory Wire, but will not light up when car is started only when I have my cluster lights on... Any ideal guys? I'm beyond stumped.
