WHATS A HOME THEATER?
ok i got that 60" today has up to 1080p resolution but when i play games on the 360 and watch hd cable it looks alot clearer then watching a dvd in the 360.

does anyone know if the 360 plays the dvds in 7?0p

or will i notice a huge difference with an upconveting dvd player???

ps3>xbox 360 blu ray = great ness

but to answer your question

Q. Does the Xbox 360 display DVD movies in 720p?

A. No. Early on October 25th when Microsoft relaunched the Xbox.com website, there was a single sentence on one page that said “Watch your DVD movies in glorious 720p from the get go.” Excitement and skepticism was shared by all and later in the day the text was changed to “Watch your DVD movies in glorious 480p from the get go.” Therefore it appears that this was a minor bit of misinformation. The Xbox 360 does act as a progressive scan, 480p DVD player though when displayed on an HDTV using component and VGA cables.

hahaha "higher resolution"

you can get the same resolution out of a game on a cd, as one on a blu-ray disc, as long as it fits

I've played with an upconvert dvd player before. Aside from the fact that it could be hooked up using HDMi (which I don't prefer, anyways), I didn't see any improvement in picture resolution.

If you want to play movies to your tv's potential, you'll just have to wait until ps3 or shell out some bills for a high-def dvd player (not sure if HD-DVD is 1080p).

Sony is retarted and needs to stop trying to make new media formats/mediums.

Mini Disk

HD Mini Disk

Atrac 3

Pro Duo

Magic Gate whatever memory card

All got shat on except the Pro Duo which people mainly use for PSPs. Blu-Ray won't be anything different.

I think Bluray will be differently mainly because of PS3 ... PS3 literally can't fail and, therefore, neither will Bluray ...
All the previous formats Sony came up with weren't attached to anything that was a "must-have" like the PS3 ...
well put. no matter what the price or issues if any that the ps3 has, it'll be the hottest item since well sliced bread to steal a quote.

they already have blu-ray movies, if you're behind it you'd think you know that? ultraviolet was released on blu-ray and it was 29.99 instead of 19.99. so if the resolution is 1080p vs. the 480 you get with DVD IMO it isn't a bad price jump for brand new technology.

10 bucks more than they are now for almost 3 times the graphics and game play ability?
still, its 60 friggin dollars, i have to work 10 hours to get one game after taxes and shit. i remember when they tried to sell pokemon stadium on n64 for 70 bucks, that was shitty
