So I was at target the other night. Went back to the electronics department and stopped in to check out what they had for the Wii and xbox 360. Well you know how they have a system loaded with demo's you can play an all with the TV up top.

Well the Xbox 360 one Instead of green lights had Red lights. Thing had the three red rings of death. Thought it was extremly funny.

That was the norm when the PS3 and Xbox first came out. They didn't properly ventilate the enclosures for either and they both ended up crashing.

The Xbox got the 3ROD, but there are a few stores where the employees told me that the PS3 melted the plastic around it, and one even caught on fire.

Hooray for poor engineering.

I just wanted to point out that some people may think, "Oh, that means the Xbox is safer!"

Yes, but it was completely unintended. What happens is that they found an inopportune place put the Graphics Processor and the main processor. As they both heat up, it heats up the heat sink, causing it to slightly get larger, and the more this happens, the weaker the connection is. So, the heat sink begins to work less and less, so that the board itself actually begins to get hot, making it more mailable, eventually bending it which disconnects a soldering point for the Processors.

Then you get the 3RROD.

Thats true about the Xbox. I thought that they have since changed the boards now so that will not happen any more. Like the Elites. Whatever new board or different board they have so the 3RROD will not happen or less of a chance...

It was funny though.

It's an easy manufacturer fix... just make some metal pegs supporting the heat sinks connected to the base...

It's not that hard.

The Elites can still get it, MS is releasing the newest chips which should eliminate it, but it's still ridiculous that it took them 3 years.

Today I got the E74 error (1 light) but fortunately I fixed it by overheating the GPU, well see how long that lasts. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif
