Xbox 360 and Nintendo should be nervous about the news Sony has for PlayStation fans.

I can pretty much guarantee it won't be any thing close to the quality of a bluray disc.
I just recently purchased a PS3, and F, bluray is night & day over DVD video. On a nice display, it will look amazing. High end Panasonic Plasmas FTW:)
Too true. Too often people put this stuff on so-so TVs and see so-so results and then wonder why it doesn't look as good as advertised. Don't forget the surround sound either. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/greedy.gif.5a53e6246569d7ab79867170f3b06629.gif

After going to blu ray on my PS3, its hard for me to watch DVD's on it. I've gotten a few of the dvd's I own made useless cuz i bought the blu ray of them.

Xbox does 720p downloads. I often use them actually. They look really good, but I still prefer a blu-ray for a movie I would like to own.

Netflix on Xbox sounds interesting, especially with the ability to watch it with friends over live (if they also have a netflix account) but I'm willing to bet the quality reamains 720p.

I honestly love my PS3, i got it at launch 60 gig, and have been frustrated by the exclusives jumping ship. But honestly MGS4 made me so happy, I dont regret buying one.

I play it the most, use it to stream off my laptop, its so versatile, and easier to use than my 360 (which I've done the streaming with also, and dont like how long it takes to load on it).

Wii was a mistake to buy IMO. Other than upconverting my gamecube games (the few that were good) to 480p, its practically useless. I played galaxy, and its just mario. Same as it has been for the last 3 iterations.

Gears was the selling point of the 360 to me, I think halo doesnt have shit on gears, except multiplayer.

But to end, I'm a sony fan boy, and could care less who wins these console wars. Nintendo has really, since their like 10 million more consoles sold than Msoft.

they loose money on consoles already, so how are they going to lower the prices of games....
That is easy, Do you really think it cost 60.00 in materials to

Put that data on a blueray disc

Print the manual and cover art

case

No, the profit margin in a games is HUGE. That is how Sony can sell the PS3 for a loss, they will make it up in the profit margin of the games. Remeber when Sony started the "Best sellers" release of games? IIRC after 100,000 copies sold they would drop that game's price to 19.99. If Sony started doing this with the PS3 games (well not 19.99, but similar reduced price)

Please don't forget about the development costs. In the case of video games, manufacturing costs are minuscule compared to development costs. That's why Sony, Microsoft, and Nintento were able to drop the price like that. They had made enough money to satisfy an accounting number on a particular game.

P.S. You might be surprised by how much it costs to print those manuals //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Edit: I won't argue that the markup on video games is huge. It is. The consoles are starting to go the way of printers where the main device is affordable but the accessories and consumables cost a fortune.

Sony just announced their Greatest Hits lineup for PS3. It was nothing spectacular, since I had seen many of the games already at the price of 29.99 or less. Their starting to roll that out soon.

Btw, a great way I've saved on buying games, is to look at Target's clearance section, in the electronics. I have gotten Motorstorm, Orange Box, and NBA Street Homecourt all for 15 bucks new. Great deals there.

Developement costs are rediculously huge, some estimate GTA4 took over 100million to develope and produce. Theres alot in these games, from voice over work (usually by professional actors), to licensing a sound track, to hi-res textures (which is what I hear is really costing, since it takes more people to produce these graphics).

The markup is big, and not every game is worth 60 dollars IMO, but some are.

Has anyone even mentioned Sony's online "HOME" that is supposed to launch later this year? If its as good as I think it will be, it would blow Xbox Live away IMO.

how would anything ever blow xbl away? there is practically unlimited possibilities with it.

Yeah Home was supposed to launch 2 years ago too so well see how that goes. Sony's Press Conference sucked dick I mean who the **** still supports last gen consoles, O WAIT SONY DOES

Also I didnt see any note worth games at the sony press conference that I DIDNT know about

Microsoft really stepped up the game there, Fallout 3 GOW2 Resident Evil 5

yea its pretty pathetic when i have all the consoles and i only use the xbox and wii, i dont think iv played my ps3 since the first week i got it around Christmas. no good games, sucky online, and there just aren't any games that look like something i would want to pay $60 for in the future

Sorry but everything that Sony HOME has Xbox Live has had for quite awhile.

and who the hell wants to creat their own apartment and invite other home members over? it sounds pretty gay to me lol. "hey wanna come over to my playstation apartment and see my game achievments?" hahahah:laugh:

Well I think LIVE was great at first, and still is today. I just think looking ahead Sony tends to stick around well. I mean how many people would think Myspace is as big as it is today?

Posting pics of your friends, yourself, and all other stupid sorts of junk. I see HOME as an extension of that type of trend. I'm not saying I myself am going to pimp out my virtual apartment, but I think the concept is a bit more ahead than the simple interface of LIVE.

Even with the improvements LIVE is about to get in the fall, mainly avatars, that look like Mii's.

In general Home is a whole other concept compared to LIVE. I know its been delayed alot, and all game companies are guilty of that.

I also don't see Xbox upping the resolution of their movie content anytime soon. mainly because of the huge space it takes on a hard drive.

They recently announced their 60gig HDD model, however most of us 20 gig owners, don't have the room to store that type of content. But I do suppose a larger hard drive is a step in the right direction, for 1080p content. Ughh idk, overall i was dissapointed with all of E3.

Gears of War 2, God of War 3, Fallout, and a few others stuck out to me. Nintendo didn't really show squat, but I read about the game "Madworld" looks insanely cool. Made up of ex-clover developers, real potential there.
