I'm debating between these three units...by these stats (assuming the unit is set flat) which would be the best one for sq? I'm somewhat leaning away from the pioneer just b/c of all the alternator whine horror stories i've read about. Dont care about fancyness, just want a good sq head unit that will not clip even if turned all the way to its maximum volume.

What will it be guys??

Is the sq really good on it? Are you able to turn it up to the max volume without clipping the HU ? I've been leaning a lot towards this unit.

Think I wanna get the x790 but wanna find out what DAC is in it first and what the impedence is on the preouts...does anyone know?

i bought the x790 a few months ago. i first had it running a kove OD 6.2 6 1/2 componet set straight off of the unit. these were rated at handling 150 rms. with them running just off of the 790. they sounded great. no distortion, even with the volume all the way up. i was very surprised at how they sounded. i later added an amp, and still didn't get any distortion with the volume all of the way up(amp gains properly set). the sound was crisp, clean, and quite neutral. this is a great unit for sound quality. one reason is becaus of 5 volt preout. having 5volt preout don't make your amp produce anymore power, you just don't have to turn the gain as high. this cuts down on distortion and adds more headroom. this unit also benefits from having 24 bit dacs. on the negative side, this unit does have build quality issues. after a couple of months i started getting error messages when playing cds. they became more and more frequent untill it stopped playing cds alltogether. the sub outputs also stopped working. make sure you get one with a warranty, if you decide to go that route. after sending mine back, i was contacted saying that it was unrepairable.

wow...sounds like a great unit. I've heard form others that they never have had a problem with theirs and all the other units they've owned. Guess we'll see what happens. But as far as sound quality it sounds great. Thanks for the review man.
