Wtf???

I have had this sub enclosure for the past two years and just recently installed a new system into my car including a new Kicker CVX. The problem is that the plastic cup that holds the speaker terminals on the box seems like it is melting from the heat. I am wondering if there is anyway to stop this problem because it gets annoying when the bass cuts in an out from the terminal making and breaking contact.

im running a 1000 watt Koiiler nothing special but its all I have right now until I get some more money to replace it. and I dont know what impedance it is running at. I just know I never had any problems with the box and amp until now when I put the kicker in it.

is your sub a d2 or d4?

your only running the one sub in the one box right?

did you make sure your connections were good AND tight on both sides of the terminal?

it really sounds like either you have a wire shorting out on one side or your just flowing too much current through it.

if your flowing too much current you need to look into another one. I'm running 1500 watts at 2 ohms through this one http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?&Partnumber=260-311

i wouldn't run a whole lot more than 1000@1 ohms through any terminal tho.

after that id just drill a hole in the box for the wires.

My sub is a D4 and I am only running one right now. after I sell my other car im going to get a second cvx and a whole different box and amp. but for now I just want this system to work. I will have to plug the current hole up that the terminal cup is in and then drill for the wires I guess... thanks for your help.

you could just put the wholes through the terminal cup too....maybe pull out the studs for the posts and run it through there.

the terminal cup is melted where the terminals where. so it is pretty much useless to use now. This has been nothing but a headache since upgrading the sound system in my car.
