WTF happened to this Q!

I have been reading here for ever and made sure I wired everything up right so after I was finished I fired everything up to set my gains and once I get to a moderate/high volume level my amp goes into protect.

I checked voltage at the amp and its above 14 then in the high 13's when it goes into protect.

So I figured my hiphonics 1606d probably had some bad components inside that just wouldn't let it put over a certain amount of power but then I got a chance to open up my box today.

Its a dual 2 wired to give a 1 ohm load on the amp.

On the badside the terminal piece just moves freely. I forgot to check at the coils but at the amp the wires read .8 ohms.

Is that thing fried and why? Seems like a faulty connection on the speaker terminal connection to me. My box is sealed but I never smelled anything bad.

Umm... don't play it.
The terminal is loose, and if you connect it like that, shorting out on the basket, it WILL damage your amplifier.

Ok, It hasn't been played since I found out it was like that. But Im sure its been like that ever since the first time I turned it up to set gains and the amp went into protect.

And Ive been playing it since then and it always goes into protect at the same volume but it comes out of protect fine everytime.

If I fix that piece to where its connected like the good side will everything be good or do I need to send it back to FI

Thanks alot for the help nG.

But that bad side is clearly a little charred, will that significantly shorten the life of my speaker compared to a good new Q? I will gladly fix it myself I just dont want it to **** up down the road because of this.

Contact Fi, it's still under warranty. It just depends on if they'll need you to send it back, and if you want to be without a subwoofer.
