WTF GM motors

so all that money just went to the CEO as a bonus for the the end of the year or somthing they would save alot of money if they would find new labor instead of paying union workers 75 bucks a hr for working the line
Union workers do not make $75 an hour. Some douchebag took all of GM's hourly workers, plus retirees, included any and all vacation time, and divided that by the number of current workers (which retirees almost double current workers) to come up with this propaganda. No worker makes $30 an hour. They do not make over $45 an hour in benefits. Top salary is $28 an hour. New hires make $14.

Also, Rick Wagoner only makes 2.2 million as CEO of GM. Why don't you ***** about the financial ceo's who received bonuses. besides the auto czar would not allow a bonus anyways.

I am sure you could have done much better, right fasfocus?
There's a sizable portion of American industry out there that ****ed itself.

There are American manufacturing firms doing it right, and doing it for the long-term, but those don't make interesting stories on CNN //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

this is why American made doesn't work in the corporate world. Most big American Corporations do not know how to run a business properly and fail. all while making crap products.
WTF kinda uneducated response is this??? Im sure poor management was partly to blame...But what about the union and its members who voted that if you work 20 years that you get paid the rest of their life with full benefits. people were retiring at the age of 40 leaving GM holding the bag to pay these people and their insurance for the next 35 to 40 years. When GM was in full swing they had almost $4k in every vehicle they built just to cover retirees. The reason companies overseas dont fail is because its really easy to make it work when you dont pay any labor or any benefits. I worked in the auto industry for 15 years so i dont wanna hear you uneducated BS.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/verymad.gif.3f39c5c2fd57527b671fad3efdfac756.gif

You don't get a full retirement at age 40 dumbass. You would've had to of started working at 10. You don't get a full retirement till you work 30 years Ford's pays my dad $1100 a month. He does not receive full medical benefits. You are totally ignorant to how the big 3 works so don't speak like you do.

missed the numbers...excuse me...the point is once the union forced these benefits on the company it was only a matter of time before there were more retirees than employees which is the case now. Same thing that happened to all the airlines who had to file..

Beg to differ......my neighbor was a forklift mechanic who retired from the Ford plant in Atlanta....$35 dollars an hour and this was back in 1988. He only has 3 fingers to prove it!!

If you didn't get that ....then you have never worked on heavy equipment.

The retirees benefits are so little. Social Security pays most of the benefits. Plus, the retirements were suppose to be fully vested. The Big 3 was supposed to be contributing to the retirement for the 30 years the worker worked there. The union also started a VEBA fund which was suppose to take care of retiree benefits with a one time payment from the big 3. Labor costs only account for less the 10% the price of the car. GM has lost over half its market share in the US. The union didn't do that. Poor decision making and designing did that coupled with the infiltration of Asian cars.
