Sold WTB RE SX 12's and a 2-3k watt amp

As far as brand and type of sub go, this is ALL personal choice.
I've seen so many different installations and people claiming their personal favorite sub will "own" other brands. I've had people tell me my sx 12's were the loudest 12's they ever heard.

go for the RE sx's if you want a combination of sound quality AND loudness. there are other subs out there that will be strictly sound quality, but not nearly as loud, and other subs that will get louder but not sound nearly as good.

i have 2 re sx 12's, D2, used. CHEAP.

i'm thinking 140 + shipping for one

if you ask in any forum, whether it be ca.com or roe, or any other one for that matter, EVERYONE will direct you in different ways. it all comes down to the sound you like, and there is only ONE way to determine this: try them out for yourself or hear them in person.

i had guys telling me their kicker l7's i believe would "eat my wannabe subs anyday"..... in front of a dozen people i pissed on him with my 2 SX's on 1500-1600 watts. but like i said, subs are a love/hate type thing. some love certain brands, some hate certain brands.

dont let anyone make your decision. i heard RE in person before i bought them, and from what i'm hearing....... i have NOT gone wrong. currently running an 18" XXX (07 version) and man, on the low end, i scare people. on 1.5kw. meanwhile the thing could handle 3kw daily.

bottom line, do a search on ca.com, ROE, and various other forums with people's experiences with RE, RD, FI, etc. there tend to be "fads" where everyone is on a companies nuts at one time, then they die off. RE has been one company that has consistently gone strong.... given they are super overpriced, retail on an SX 12 is 299.99
each to his own, but from experence i just chose the alpha over the SX...

no doubt the alphas will get louder get lower and sound better down low.. they just need more power to get louder... also the alphas have slightly more cone area... the SX was intended as a SPL woofer and they get loud in larger boxes... there peaky... where as the alphas are made to get low sound great and handle a ton of power... the coil uses lower ga windings to increase power handling, while RE used smaller windings a smaller topplate to get a higher Xmax..

with 2KW the alpha is stall 100% linear... 2200 its still linear.. this nears its thermal power handling.. but far for xsus so it can be used in much larger boxes, but thats not the intention.. sound good get low and have a high thermal powerhandling... they have just enought Xmax to get the job done.

in the case of the SX the coils surface area isn't the killer its the wire used... they used thinner cheaper topplates and smaller wire to get the desired damping and a higher xmax.. clearly built around increased throw even though there not going to use it with the recommend power...

yet the SX is more expensive still...

well honestly i dont hav emy heart set on any particular sub i just need 2 12's that will get loud as hell and sound good in a 3.78 cube box tuned to 34.5 hz with 36 sqin of port. My max budget is 500 for both so whoever can give me a good deal on some woffers that will meet my demands then i will take them.

like i said, to each his own //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

i've heard many brands, especially Fi, and a lot of people rant about specs, quality of parts, etc, when meanwhile what the actual decision comes down to is how you like the sound in-person

when you got a pair? I remember someone reviewed the alphas but they where the v1s... the v2s are a better design for sure.. hell i don't even reconize your SN.. from what i have seen on boards just a handfull have heard them.. for 250 a woofer thats a pretty **** good deal... considering there output is close to the DD 3500 and they sound good to boot...

have you used the new heavy weights?
