The Valentine 1 is overrated. It's still a great detector, but you should take a look at the Beltronics RX65. It produces less false alarms, isn't detected as easily, and comes with significantly more features. And it's cheaper.

But the Valentine1, X50, and RX65 are all solid choices.

those escorts are pretty BA. i got one like a month ago and started using it last night. works really well. i doubt i'll use it much though. it's getting too expensive to speed

now that ive had both, id say for $200 used id take the 8500 x50 over a 499 V1...just IMO....youll be happy with whatever you choose
