dont mean to hijack your thread but i was looking to get a pair of 10's the new se. so are the new ones not as good as the older ones? the pair goes for 274 on ebay new with 2 year warranty.

they have different spiders (err.. spider) and i believe the coils are different. (copper/alum, i may be wrong on that one)

what was the old one? new one is single spider. coil is copper round

good luck getting that warranty. fyi the se has been the same for ~3 years. how they were when they first came out after the HC im not sure but i honestly doubt they "changed"

Scott from FI told me they are probably made with cheaper parts now.

really? lol funny thing is yesterday i was looking at the recone kits we just got seeign if i could really tell... (se/sx/mt) sadly they were all diffrent sizes so my "weight" test didnt work so much... i could be wrong but the se looked like copper and was def round. where the mt/sx were def flatwound but looked more like alum color wise (if you look at them all the se is the only one thats a brownish sorta copper color where the other ones look more like a light brown/tanish (including the sr)

but i would trust scotts word over me just looking at the speakers all day

I meant the new one is aluminum, or that's what it says on REs website. I'm no expert on the issue by any means. Honestly if I can't find another one to go with this one I just got I might just buy two new ones, and throw the older one in a home setup.

The new and the old SE's are the same according to RE. I called when i was gonna order a second one and made sure that the old and the new one were the same. He told me they have the same specs that just the look had changed.

i was always under the impression that the new ones had the i logo in the center and the old ones had RE in the center anyways good luck on your hunt
