Yea they can. The number stays the same. I might have an old razr, the battery bar doesn't work but the phone works fine if your interested.

I have a Motorola E815 that has been sitting around for like a year. I have a wall charger, maybe a car charger if I can find it. I honestly don't know how good the battery is though. I wouldn't want much for it if you are interested, let me know.
