WTB: line driver

Do I need a Line Driver to run a 3000wrms+ amp from a 2v preout deck?

It'll save your amp from working as hard...
Well the preamplifier section of an amplifier is deigned to boost voltage into the input of the amplifier. Very little current is pulled from the input preamplifer into the output amplifier sections. There is NO way, unless the amplifier is designed poorly, the input voltage makes that much difference on the output of the amplifier. (If you have the gains adjusted correctly with the preamplifier in the amplifier its self)

Think about it like this.

HU OUT->Pre-Amp In->Processing->Amplification->Output.

Each of these stages are separated, very little current flows between them (with the exception of the amplification and the output). All you are doing by adding a box inline is lengthening your signal chain, introducing more connections, adding another source of noise and distortion, and pretty much by passing the reason a Amplifier has a Pre-Amp in it.
