Clarion cz702 on sale at crutchfield for $120 5v pre outs. Only down side is that its not bright at all cant see the screen in the day, and its complicated AF!

thanks for the suggestion but this will be for my bro that's turning 16 next month and just looking for a decent HU and like you said it's complicated and he would not be taking advantage of the active features. If he was into to audio more I would recommend this to him but that's probably a year or so from now till he gets that involved in it

High voltage doesnt mean anything if your install is right, from what i understand anyway. If hes not into audio that much, then just get him something with an ipod hookup or bluetooth or whatever his connection will be. most people just like something that plays their music. If he wants more then your gonna be wanting to go above 100$

i'd recommend a double din for a 16 year old, they'd appreciate the simplicity of it all and it looks better in young people's minds. You can definitely get full power output out of a 2 volt double din as long as you set it up properly.

That actually does not look like a bad option and I prefer the year usb input. I will look into this a little more while I wait to see if any used ones pop up. The only Pioneer hu I have owned is the 80prs but hopfully the build quality of this would be decent

Kenwood KDC-BT362U (kdcbt362u) Single DIN Bluetooth In-Dash CD/AM

Ive been running this unit for a while, and had been an excellent buy for my daily ride.Verify the vehicle year and make model and they will throw in a dash kit and wiring harness with free shipping. Kenwood hu are pretty clean sounding units,close to distortion free towards maxed volume that Ive had the experience of even with my KDC BT955HD that sounds amazing.Knowing the younger generation..Swapping amps at random without turning off the HU first even by removing one rca then replacing back while HU in operation,takes on the risk of Blowing the Pico Fuse in a Pioneer unit,One of the reasons I dont Buy Pioneer anymore.Keep it simple, stick with a Kenwood for now for price as well as reliability.Just my experience
