WTB decent 4ch (100x4)

oh and also, the difference between 50 and 100 watts is only 3 dB at full output. Music doesn't even get nearly the amps full potential so looking between 50 and 100 watts, especially in car, you won't notice a difference really..

so you're telling me that i wont notice a difference on a comp set from 50w to 100w? that sounds ridiculous but you may be right. can you back that up?

I can. In theory, if the speakers and everything else in the system is constant, half the power will only yield a 3 dB loss at maximum output. I assumed this was common knowledge as it's posted on many forums as well as it being a general rule of physics.

I wasn't saying you definitely WON'T hear a difference, but unless you have highly sensitive ears, you won't notice a difference.

An excerpt from above:

OK, now we know about decibels, and that 1dB is roughly the smallest change we can perceive. Have you ever wondered why a 100 Watt amp doesn't sound twice as load as a 50 Watt amp? It's because double the power is equivalent to only a 3dB increase in volume!
This is the same for any power comparison: provided you use the same speakers, and the same amp design (more on that later), 60 watts is 3dB louder than 30 watts, 400 watts is 3dB louder than 200 watts, etc.

that confuses me...

i understand the physics of it, but why would people buy 100w comp set and run it of 50w?

and i know 100w wont sound twice as loud as 50w, but i thought there would be a greater difference

Small mini almost unnoticabe scratches in the areas where I point out. And large obvious scratch.

Also It is still quite a bit dirty It sat in a warehouse for most of its life before I rescued it and its brother.

I currently use the other one and it is very powerful and clear.

Sorry about the links.

Clarion APX200.2 power amplifier

Kenwood KAC-8401 power amplifier

Clarion APX400.4 power amplifier

Insignia Power Amplifier

i might be getting these within the next week or so, but really the only ones that would work for you is the clarion apx400.4 which does 50 X 4 @ 4 or the kenwood which does 75 X 4 @ 4.
