Theres a pretty good starter system with 2 woofers + custom ported enclosure. Find a decent 600-800 watt amp and you're set. (except for things like wire etc.) And if you want to spend a little more, I recommend stepping up to the VVX line 2 12s and a custom box for $430 shipped. Could go cheap on an amp with something like the Audiopipe APSM1500 and have a killer first system. I'd recommend saving a little more for a quality amp but the Audiopipe is a decent option on a budget.

I live in the same area as you. I have 2 12' Memphis m3's (orange basket) and a Memphis 16-MCD1000 amp that pushes 1100RMS to both. $540. $500 without the box. You can see and hear before buying.

what are you trying to get for 4-500, if you buy used ,you may get a better system but then again it might be a bit well used too.i can do a better amp and subs ,but you'll still need a box.for $500 shipped
