I told him a cap wouldnt do anything and those optimas are not the best for car audio. He needs something with a quick discharge. 2 C&d's or powertechs in place of those optimas would have that system held down perfectly.

Yea c&d ive got one 370 with big 3 in 0 and one run of 0. Running a saz1500 at half ohm and no dimming.

I had 1 Powertech and 1 250 Amp alt on my RD 3250 V.1 @ .5 ohm and voltage never dropped under 13 idling and 11 off.

you would think that with a duel optima yellow top batteries, and a mean green alt would do the trick. the alt puts out 140-220 amps Mean Green MG1382 - Mean-Green High Output Alternator for 1999 Jeep . just checked all the big 3 wires that need to be replaced and the power wire was upgraded from the stock up to an 8 gauge wire, the ground wires are stock.

That's a good deal from vitveet . Don't do it in 4 do 0. I did my first in 4 then went to 0. As said caps are just about worthless its like a quick bandaid. But yea big 3 then add a second batt if needed. Yea there is not much moderation here but you gotta love it. Best of luck and hope this helps.

MOST people are misinformed about caps....they WILL help a system (small) out....but all the wiring and upfront battery has to be large/good! Most people that use caps have like 10 or 8 awg power/grounds (sometimes even 4 awg is too small) and don't have the big 3 done and they may have a $hitty front battery trying to charge the cap and power the amp(s) at the sametime....aint gunna happen!

Then on the other hand, people that KNOW how to use a cap correctly are usually at the power stage where batteries are needed/used, so therefore, you don't have too many people correctly using caps.

I've personally never used one in any of my personal vehicles but have used them plenty of times (correctly) for customers of mine with EXCELLENT success! It can be done, just needs to be done right!

Oh yeah, 8 awg is probably stock "big 3" wires. No point in half doing it in 4-8 awg either. If you're going to do it, do it right with 0 awg! Your electrical system will thank you later!
