I looked for almost two months before I got my Macbook pro and could not find any discounts deals or anything. You could always to eBay, but even there it's hard to get a good deal and still have the warranty.

If you're going to buy one, i'd just get it from apple with the education discount. Applecare is really necessary if you don't know a lot about macs. They usually don't break but if they do and you dont have apple care... forget getting it repaired for cheap.

You get 100 off when you buy one for college AND a ipod touch. I would get it from apple just for that. 5 years ago I bough a mac never bought one before and bought the apple care, never used it. Than about 3 years alter I dropped it than dropped it again and again. Still going to this day. Also the classes are really nice and you should take them, not because you need to just pretty neat that they include it all free.

no the ipod touch expired a few weeks ago, I missed it. The standard rebate for a student is $100 and your school might have something set up with Apple so you get more of a discount but it usually has to be in the beginning of the school year. I bought a new Lenovo which sucked so I returned it and bought the mac pro but just missed the ipod special and didnt get the additional $50 off that my school offered because it was too long into the semester.

Unfortunately not anymore, that deal ended 3 weeks ago.

And you had to buy the ipod touch, then send in a rebate and wait to get your money back.

I got more than $100 off when I bought mine for college. so you get $100+ off when you buy from apple for college.

Just look at it this way, the operating system is so much better and in sync, and its almost impossible to get a virus on them.

Indeed 5 years with mine and not one crash not one bad update not one bad anything. My next one will be a mac will get it in a few months.

yeah but right when deal ended they updated the the OS and put the new Snow Leopard on and it was a first gen touch 8 gig you can find them on craigslist for like $80-120 so not that big of a deal, but I was still pissed they wouldn't give me 1.

True lol I prefer a bigger hard drive ipod myself. Make me a 250gb ipod and I am going to be on cloud 9. Yes I need one that big.
