Hi,

I've been searching for months and it's driving me insane. I seem to just miss out on every bargain I come across!

I need to buy a 5 or 6 channel amp for my system. I am not interested in cheap stuff which is why it's taken me so long to find what I want. I would like 400-500rms available on the sub channel, 70rms or more on the front channels as I'm going active and need the juice.

A couple examples of what I am interested in:

-PG SD1300.5

-PG Ti1600.5

-Alpine PDX-V9

-Memphis (any except the lower 600-700 Watt models)

-PPI Phantom (maybe)

- Zapco 6 channels

- Arc Audio 6 channels

I am also in need of one (or two) shallow mount subs. I really am only looking for a couple types;

- Stereo Integrity BM MKIII or MKIV

- Alpine SWR-T10 or SWR-T12

- JL Audio TW5

Before anyone suggests eGay, believe me I've been on there every day for longer than I care to remember!

Let me know what's out there

Frank

I have a brand new, never touched ct sounds 5 channel. Meets at your specs plus some, really nice amp! I'm just going to go with tantric amps when they come out. Pm me if interested. I've own a few of those other 5 channels and judging by looks and beef of the ct it will perform well

Hey man, thanks for the response- I appreciate the offer.

Unfortunately I've had some bad experiences with Audio Technix/CT Sounds in the past. It's been a while and the products have probably improved a lot since then but once bitten twice shy as they say.

More importantly none of the subs I'm looking at offer the 1ohm option, so the amp I need will have to make it's power at a minimum of 2ohm (4ohm for the Alpines are they are SVC -.-).

250@2 is just a little too low for me man //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

Hey mate,

Yes I did see that, unfortunately shipping to Australia is very expensive (work on about $120) so the price you're asking (which is quite reasonable) plus postage works out to be pretty much what I can buy one new with warranty over here for.

I'm being cheap and I'm happy to admit that- I've spent $15,000 on restoring the car this equipment is going into so I'm being very tight with the sound system budget.

I'll keep an eye on your V9 thread, if you do bring the price down in the future I'll be the first to make you an offer.

I do understand. This one is new with warranty as well Good luck

Ive got an AudioSystem Twister F6 380. 2 ohm stable bridged on all channels. Its made by Masconi and ranks up there with old school Zapco and the likes.
I'm a big fan of the Twister F6, it was one of the first I looked at. Everything I've read on it said that it's only stable to 4ohm when bridged though? Also since the channels aren't staggered, a total of 160rms on 5+6 is a bit light for the MKIV.

I do see that you're running that EVO 10 (unicorn much?) on the Twister, what were the EVO's rated to? It's been years since I've seen one and I can't find the specs.. I seem to remember a friend of mine pumping 600rms into one once upon a time though.

All the manuals say 4 ohm stable, but they are actually 2 ohm stable in mono mode and are rated at about 240wrms output.

The Evo was rated around 4-500wrms too. I recently sold it off. Once upon a time I had specs for it but cant seem to find it. All I know is that they made about 400 of them and that they were a TC2+ based motor.

Whitedragon- I'll do some reading on the Twister, information is pretty scarce on it these days. I'd like to see what people have done with them, but I really think that even 240rms is drastically undercutting the sub. If I'm unable to source an MKIV then I'll be stuck with the Alpine T12- which is 4ohm SVC- so I'm sort of preparing for the worst-case scenario.

A ZED leviathan would work great for your goals.
Believe me, I've spent many a night drooling over Levi's. It is one of my all time favourite amps, but I simply can't afford to spend $1k on an amplifier.

I have a used one here, Leviathan V2, I can ship you for 570 (yes to Australia) Priority mail with insurance. If you want to get creative trying to lie to customs I couldn't insure and I'd ask you to "gift" the paypal payment since I'd be SoL if it got broke or lost in the mail without insurance.
