I'm looking for a 4 channel amp that does at least 100w per channel. I want to run the Pioneer TSD-720c active and the tweeter is 8 ohm so i will need the extra power to get the tweeter loud. I really want a PG zx450 if anyone has it but i will take others into consideration.

tweeters are very efficient and should be able to get loud off 25 watts, so even 50 would be a ton for a tweeter..... I would be looking at running at least 3 times the power for your mids //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

yeah, just turn the gain down..... I am running a 5 channel right now 70x4 and 400x1

the tweets are run off 2 channels, but gain is way down compared to the mids...and my mids are pretty efficient.

also, the higher the crossover point you set the tweet at the more power it will handle....do some testing and just be careful.

8ohm just means that it's more efficient, it doesn't really lose anything by giving "less" power

Edit: i know my post is generalization, no need to be critical about it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

i've got 50x4 Helix amp...probably not the power you're looking for, but i'll still throw it out there.
looking for a little bit more power. I want my comps to be loud inside without sacrificing sq. I read bigbang's review on the pioneer tsd-720c and i think im going to get a pair. I wanted to do DIY active set but i cant find a good mid that has a depth of 2 5/8 MAX!! so i thought i should go with the pioneers

i would but that amp is just way to long to fit in my car. Plus its not that efficient.
I think JLs are the worse when i comes to efficiency. My lights dim off their e1400 running only 400 watts
thats cuz e-series is crap

and how are slash series not efficient?

11.-14.4 volts @ rated power

1.5-4 ohm

It just has a ton of technology inside it needs amperes to run each, I don't understand how you say they aren't efficient, (where Jl tests each one to be over 90% efficient prior to leaving their production line)

i dont know. I just remember reading a thread on how their amps were all inefficient. But i know i can get something a little better for the money.

you still don't understand the idea of efficiency. It's not based on a strict power supply.
