exactly. i had never even heard of them until he offered me one, and they're pretty inefficient. not exactly what i was looking for, but i'd like to see what someone whose tried one out says

It's hard to say man.... I mean you probably won't get what it's rated at cleanly, but you should probably get some good/decent power anyways. Why don't you look into AP, VVME, or Popcorn Sounds? If I was gonna buy a budget amp and was stuck on that price (trust me, I hate paying full price also), those are the brands I'd look into.

As I said before the Rubicon 2500.1 is a nice amp for the money @TiK ; he has one for 250$
