I have 2 JL Audio 12W3V3's in a nice carpeted, ported box.

He has a 1 Alpine Type R 15" in a nice carpeted, ported box.

Is this a fair trade?

Who is getting screwed?

Or is it even?

i personally wouldn't trade 2 jl w3 12's for a 15 type r. I wouldn't say your getting a bad deal depending on your goals. The type r 15 has potential to get louder with the right power but the jl will sound much better. Again it depends on your goals

The more I'm reading posts it seems that I would be losing out.

I'm looking for more bass, I have a Lanzar 1800D and the 12"s are struggling but sound good.

It also may be my h/u.

seems to me that you would be better off selling the jl gear and then buying the type R elsewhere if thats the route you wanted to go. you would probably have a little extra money when its all said and done

i bought a type R 15 for 180 new from a shop local to me. I feel that is not a fair deal. I would keep the jl's and work on a better box.
