Just got my jbl 1200.1 amp installed yesterday. ONly problem is that i didnt get my subs yet! I have a lot of old speaker boxes(box self speakers). Would it be okay if i hooked when up to my amp. I dont care bout the speakers..i just want to make sure i wont be hurting my amp. thanks guys

If they are 8ohm speakers. Just wire a pair in paralell. and you won't hurt a thing. YOu won't be able to hear any highs though. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

In parallel is when you run both spkr's wires to the same terminals on your amp, like your hooking both spkrs to the same ch.'s (as if they were one spkr). This will cut your ohm load in half with 2 spkrs. (i.e. 8 ohm spkrs would see a 4 ohm load)

In series would be running a wire from your amps + output to your left spkr's + termianl, then a wire from it's - terminal to the right spkr's + terminal, then a wire from your right spkr's - terminal back to your amp's - terminal. This will double your ohm load with 2 spkrs. (i.e. 8 ohm spkrs would see a 16 ohm load) It doesn't alwasy work exactly that way, but you get the general idea.

Make sense? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
