im looking at purchasing (2) two twelve inch type r's and now im looking at amps. hifonics makes two amplifiers in my price range. The BXI 2006D and the BXI 1606D. Both are Brutus amplifiers by hifonics if your going to do a search. The difference i see is at 1ohm the bxi 2006 will push 2000 watts and the BXI 1606 will do 1600 watts at 1ohm. There is a 70$ price difference on ebay with shipping and all. If its worth the money im willing to pay it because i have it. but if im not going to use those last 400 watts very often then its not worth it to me. So the question is is 400 extra watts worth the 70 dollars or not?

ok then maybe this is a question for later but i just looked and the type r's (SWS1242D) has a RMS of 750 watt and a peak of 2000w. whats all this mean?

mean it can run about 750 each daily, and about up to 2000 watts for burps (usually 30 seconds of pure bass for like comps and stuff). But if ur asking about that kinda thing u'll probably wanna do alot more research before buying anything.

i know this goes in the subwoofer forum but heres a review i read about the type r's at amazon.com

First off, you should know that for some people this will be a very good subwoofer. If your only concern is with SPL, i.e. having a sub that causes hearing loss, head-aches and makes your neighbors yearn for your death, then this is a fantastic choice. However, if you are actually concerned with the musical quality of your bass then you need to look elsewhere. This sub doesn't play deep, it doesn't play clean, it simply eminates a tremendous quantity of bass that isn't worth hearing. The bass reproduced by this sub sounds simply like power converted into sound and not an actual element of music. I'm sure people who own this sub are very proud of how much it makes the rear-view mirror rattle, as well as the amount of attention they are able to garner as they cruise past wal-mart with the windows down; but I fail to believe anyone really truly enjoys the sound that is created by this discus of decibals. In short, if you want loud (and all you want is loud), consider getting this sub. If you want a sub that actually sounds good, try kicker/rockford/soundstream/audiobahn/boston or some other brand that realizes bass isn't simply a frequency that makes your trunk sound like the apocolypse is beginning, it's an actual element of music.

Is this guy for real because i heard type r's are good for quality. What do you think of the type r's. i dont care if my neighbors can hear it. I just want it to do one thing....Sound GOOD.

putting that with the rest of the companies that he listed already makes him an idiot, but I cant tell u what I think since I've never heard the sub in my car, but realize that most of what u read are only oponions, I have heard the sub in otehr people's cars and it does sound pretty good for the price( if ur not buying it from Best Buy or CC). But there's always others u can look into.

btw I like how u made another thread about that guy's opinion -_-

Thanks brotha for the help.....i think this guys an idiot so i am going with (2) alpine type r's with the hifonics BXI 2006D amp. What do you think....

I think it'll be a good setup, should sound pretty nice, but than again it does depend alot on the install. Make sure u know what ur doing if ur installing it urself (ohm resistance, gain settings, wiring, etc.), or if ur having it done at a shop make sure their not some POS crappy shop, go someplace that has a good rep.
