Worst luck with my RE SX

Lets start off with, as soon as I got the RE SX, it wasn't working. So the person I bought it off of repaired it for me. I was pretty happy about that. But now, it recently had its coils burn up. Sadly, I didn't tune the subwoofer, the shop where I got it done at did. When the sub started making noise, I checked the amp and the gain, levels, and bass booster was all the way up. I was pissed off, they said there was no way they did that. So I guess knobs move themselves. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/verymad.gif.3f39c5c2fd57527b671fad3efdfac756.gif Unfortunate for me, I didn't (and still don't) know how to tune a sub correctly, And I didn't know what to listen for. So now when its going, I just hear rattling and its really annoying. I can probably get it fixed for around 100. Is it worth it to get another one, or should I just get something else?

I still have my amp which is Fusion Car Audio Outlet Store - D-CLASS MONOBLOCK AMP - 2000W

So what subwoofer would go good with it if I decide to replace it? I was debating a DD 2512, DC Level 4, or anything really.

You have been here since 2007 and dont know how to set gains? sorry to rub it in but...come on man. I am sure it sounded like *** while you were burning up the coil too.

And yes, they prolly did do that so you would come back and buy woofers from them. Happens everywhere. CA shops want you to buy their stuff.

just repair it
Is it possible its something more than the sub? Is it the amp? Is it overpowered?

Yea, I was 16 at the time, I just wanted it loud. And I know they wanted me to buy their stuff, hey kept saying it. Thats a terrible thing to do though. Theres something wrong with my stereo though, when there no music playing and you turn the volume up, you can hear a faint hissing sound. Do you think that somehow ruined the subs faster?

if you have hissing sound you probaly have "engine wine" meaning a bad ground on the amp..

wanna check that out or grounded some were else better..

I hear it if the engine is turned off. And I got an amp for my speakers, and an amp for my subwoofer, I will check the amp for the speakers, but it didn't have that sound until I put the new receiver in. I checked the ground on the receiver and thats fine. Never checked the amp..

Will it blow up again? haha. Or is it just bad luck? If I set the levels CORRECTLY, will it last even if the front speakers have a hiss?
wtf did you do on here for 2 years, post in the misc? No a front speaker hiss is usually just line noise. Turn the gains down on the amp for your front speakers, if that doesnt' work, check grounds.

Lol, I didn't really read too much. haha. I'm not sure if I can adjust the gains on the amp, its a factory amp, but I will try it out.
