I was talking with my fasha yesterday and he mentioned he thought the IRS rate for mileage increased recently. Normally the IRS only increases mileage on a yearly basis, but due to gas prices they have increased it for the remaining 6 months of 2008

Just a heads up for those that get reimbursed mileage, cause it is a pretty large jump, 50.5->58.5 cents per mile.

For me it means about $40 extra per week, so about $2k a year...basically pays for gas

**** you lucky bastard, my company uses the IRS rate and they didnt even tell me about this increase yet and it started on 7/1

i cant complain, in the 3 years i have worked for the company the mileage has paid for my gas, maintenance and the original cost of my car 2 times over

we are only allowed to use our personal car for distances up to 250 miles one way from the plant.....over that we have to get a rental and they pay for the gas and the rental

back in the early 2000's i was a district manager for a local paper and had to do "call backs" in the afternoon when my carriers missed a house

if it was a slow day i would just get on the highway and drive back and forth in my POS escort that i bought just for the job

i was averaging $400 week in tax free mileage:)

it sucks to put milegae on your car, but at 25 miles per gallon i pay $45 for a tank and get paid back $190 per tank
