wood question?

well today i was in woodworking class and i told my teacher to buy some MDF because i was going to make a speakerbox for my brother, and he said he would go to ACE and get speakerbox wood i told him MDF, he said ok, and today he came with some shit called flakeboard i havent told him anything but can i still make my box out of this, it is for 2 xxx 12's if it matters, o and he also wants to use joints is this the right way to do it, or do i just screw it together

my sealed box is made out of chipboard... i didnt build it... i couldnt tell any difference when it was in and it held up ok. so i mean its gravy/

If you can do joints there alot stronger than just a simple screw.

They make a " sealed" box

MDF is preferable. Less flex. Cheaper. Easier on the saw blades.

Just brace your box quite a bit.

no i spend $862 on subs and my woodworking teacher says its the right wood to make a box and now i'm going to tell him to return the wood and get the right wood, MDF, not no **** wood that ACE told him was the best wood for speaker boxes
