It has arived! My new Kenwood Excelon X-990. We will be installing it this weekend. This deck is going to be fun to play with. Out with the old. Fortunantly my deck isn't going very far. It will be installed this weekend too, as the beginning of my truck project. My X-589 is a nice deck and it will continue to live on in my Ford Ranger!

That is correct. I really like it like that. Maybe just different. I have completely enjoy my Excelon X-589. Being familer with it should be a big help with the X-990. I am really going to like tweeking with the system wow and the time alignment.

Congrats on the x-990. It is a very sick head unit indeed. However, I returned mine to crutchfield (after returning the first one and getting a second one) because the screen on those makes a faint high pitched whining sound, but is barely noticable. My friend said I have "super sonic hearing" and that he could not notice it, but I can hear it even with my volume up to 13 or so. I was pretty upset to let it go, the screen absolutely rocks as well as the sound quality. Let me know if you notice any noise coming from the screen.

Will do. You mention screen noise, my X-589 had no noise at all In my Eclipse, but when I put it in my Elantra, I did get a little whine. The thing about that is, when you put some volume to it and you don't need much, it it no problem at all.

Well the noise is actually due to the special 4096 color display on the x-990 and xxv-01d . The noise does not go through the speakers or rca's but comes from the screen itself. I wouldnt worry about it if your not that picky. Trust me your going to love the deck, just thinking about it makes me want the deck back but I have an 880prs which should be here monday.
