i'm weak at figuring out the "symbolism" or whatever, but what does she gain by being *****.

ill take a stab at this...

she has been stripped of all her pride, self respect, integrity, ability to look at the world without feeling violated. she feels ***** to the world, in respect to the way her life was before the incident, as if everyone has pried into her personal life and now judges her. or maybe she just feels ***** to the world and that everyone let her down and she feels ***** inside, and that she cant get away from the shame no matter how hard she tries.

i dunno, im not usually good at symbolism either, but that would be my guess.
