Woke up 25 minutes late for work today..

I have to go in some time today to pick up my check so I'm going to try to reason with her and explain the situation. Today is/was my first time being late. I didn't go to work yesterday because of things with my dad (in the hospital with a fluid around his heart due to a stab wound to the chest from a ******* attempt, his neck is already broken (the same break Christopher Reeves had only by some miracle my dad has *moderate-severe* nerve damage but no paralysis, the list goes on and on with him). I sent my boss a text message yesterday morning saying that I wouldn't be able to make it in (she communicates via text because she's a Crackberry whore). I called first thing this morning when I woke up explaining that I overslept and that I was on my way out the door but my boss said don't bother, we can't take you back. At first I was very confused because she's always told me to text her if anything happens or I need to reach her. She claims that she never got my message which means I was NCNS (no call-no show) yesterday and late today so I was basically fired.

Until then, back to filling out applications..

It's a good thing I saved this blunt and handful of Watson 750s. I was planning on having a good day and making it better but now I'm just going to make a bad day manageable..

wow man that sucks. Most places will allow you a few days, what kinda work is it? I love my job, people just assume i'm coing back from a client or a meeting so no one really pays attention to when I come and go.

Today was my first time being late, not a habitual thing.

I work(ed) at an outpatient surgery center as a medical assistant but I did the majority of the work outside the ORs. I was doing things that only registered nurses (RNs) should be doing but I had to because they either sucked or didn't know how to at all.

I worked there previously but left on good terms after ~9 montehs because of a lot of personal issues I had at the time, I didn't feel I could handle work and put 100% into it. I just started back almost 2 weeks ago and this was the first problem I've had since coming back.

I understand that rules are rules and that she had to do something but I think I may stand a chance if I can talk to her. I mean she literally praised me every day. She was constantly telling me how great I am to have around and work with, how she loves that I do things that aren't my job without being asked, that I'm the best and most knowledgeable medical assistant (MA) they've ever had, ect.

show her your phone with the sent messages, and tell her to have a **** heart...If she knows your situation with dad (sorry) then she should understand and make some kind of allowances...

I would go above her head and talk to someone in higher authority then her if there is anyone...

Sorry dude, bad day for sure...Don't smoke the blunt or take pills that are not prescribed to you, you have to find a job and all places want drug tests...

It's not that I don't take the job seriously. As a matter of fact I'm very serious about my job and take a lot of pride in doing the best work I can possibly do.

But I'm fucking human.

You can't tell me that you've never slept through your alarm clock or possibly turned it off while you were still half asleep without remembering?

I made a human mistake. I didn't wake up, turn the alarm off, and say 'fuck it, I'm going to lay here and make myself late and hope I don't get in trouble for it'.

you should of woke up. if your alarm clock beeps and you don't wake it. it's a huge sign of you needing a new alarm clock.

also, instead of calling her, you should of texted her, if you would have she probably would of let you keep your job. :/
