wiring sub in serie question

I've had bad result with my latest two substage that were dual 1ohm, so each hook up in serie then in parellel between the two.

is there something wrong in the way i'm wiring these...

i tried that way this morning and the subs were making weird sound and there were pretty much off....

Am i only using one of the two subs coil? why doesn't it works the second way?

sorry about my noobiness... just wondering what i'm doing wrong cause my dual 4ohm setup in parrallel/parrallel always worked better

Yea, the top one looks wrong if your trying to do a series connection, unless I'm not reading your diagram correctly.

You need to be going from negative to positive to negative to positive etc. You're taking shortcuts when your connecting negative to negative and positive to positive. unless I'm misunderstanding it. what do the v's at the bottom of the diagram signify, pass throughs or smiley faces??

Disclaimer, This is not my area of expertise, I'm here to learn. But then again, series is series, and that doesn't look right to me.

it's not a smiley face, more like a jumper between the + and -

You must be confused because you don't understand exactly what is going on. Each + and - that has its own terminal is a coil. In series, you are connecting one coil through another. This means that one coil gets a + from the amp. The OTHER coil gets a negative from the amp. The left over + on one coil connects to the left over - on the other coil. Now you are in series. You must have mistakenly thought that power magically jumped to the other coil if you simply put a jumper between its + and -. I don't mean to insult you but that is the ONLY way you could have screwed this up.

1 coil on each sub is not hooked up, do it like the 2nd diagram

i just can't realize how dumb i was for the last 3 months....

only one coil was hooked per sub... thus the amp seing .5ohm, and each coil seing double the power....
