Wiring a mono and multi channel amp

What is the best way to wire two separate amps that will be located next to each other in my SUV. I assume a single power cable can be used to the battery? I assume I can use a distribution block? I have a 2X150 watt and a 1X800 watt amp. The 2 X 150 will be 4 ohm to the front speakers, and the 1X800 will be 2 Ohm single mono channel to the subwoofer. I would appreciate a link if anyone has on wiring.

I have been searching the internet for more information and this website gives me errors on the site search.

You're right on both. The main power cable comes from the battery, gets split with a distribution block (fused) to the amplifiers. Run seperate RCA wires, and daisy-chain the remote wire from one amp to the other.

and also even though you don't have large amps, i would suggest using 1/0 guage wire from the battery to the distro block. makes it easier for future upgrades and in reality, it isn't that much more expensive.

I intend on using 1/0 gauge wire through a block and then broken down into two 4 gauge wires. The question I have,

Does the distribution block need to remain as close as possible to the amps?

Regarding the ground wire, Does this need to be 1/0 or 4 gauge wire? I intend to wire each amp separately and then ground them at the same point.

Do the RCA's need to be run via a separate route rather than next to the power wire?

1. Yes, preferably.

2. Make the grounds short as possible, you can use 4awg.

3. Depends. Some will tell you to run them seperate, some (like me) run them next to the power wire with no problems. Try whatever's easiest first.

Interesting information regarding the RCA jacks and power wires running next to each other. It will be much easier to run them along the same route.
