Wiring 2 amps

Hi! I just got an amp from a friend and I also have another PG amp. The PG (75watt x 2) is running on 10 gauge wire and I have some spare 8gauge to power my "new" 250 watt amp. I was wondering if it is safe to run two different size power cables from the battery to two amps, rather than buying 4 gauge wire and a distroblock (I'm poor right now). I plan on buying 4 gauge and a distro block later, but not right now. Thanks for your help!

Sounds safe to me. Can't you run both amps off a single 8 guage main positive line?

Distro block = bolt, nut, ring terminals, electrical tape; for those with no money. If you can't find 3 of those laying around your house, then you're not trying hard enough.

You also have the option of wiring it parallel with the other amp.

its perfectly safe. right now i have a 4gauge and an 8gauge runnin from my batt. to 2 seperate amps and it runs fine. just get a battery terminal big enough to fit both wires.

Do yourself a favor. Wait a couple days until you can afford the proper stuff.Don't be in such a hurry that you risk potential damage to your car or equipment. I'll admit it I burned one to the ground doing just what your thinking of. Wires, fuse/ distro.....24$ wally world.

Thanks for the help guys! I'll prolly stop by Wal-mart n pick up a Scosche kit. It's not that I doubt you guys that say I'll be safe. I guess I'll just do it "right the first time" so I won't have to take the time run the 8gauge, pull it when i get the Scosche kit, and then run the Scosche kit wire through the car (this'll also give me upgrade options in the future). I need RCA's anyway and those come with a scosche kit.

Oh yeah, one more question. Are the distroblocks included with the kit fused? Is it dangerous if it isn't (even with the inline fuse by the battery)?

Thanks supa for always responding with the quickness. Are you ever away from your computer and the CA forums? Hehehe //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/bowdown.gif.b85b23b82970bd22fb6b549c3392f016.gif
