anyone have it or used it? thoughts?

I'm moving to a new house out in the country that we just built, which is nice, except the only internet available out there is dial-up. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif The wireless broadband deal sounds pretty nice, provided it actually works...considering the shitty cell coverage already...

Depends on which type you use. I tried my aunt's Verizon Broadband card, and in her location it only got about 80kbit down, just a little faster than dialup. If you want almost free, Boost mobile has WiDEN phones, and unlimited data transfer, download speeds on that are about 16Kbps. Sprint has the Powervision, I've seen good speeds reported for that, like 2Mbps if you're in the proper locations. Through Sero, you can get a wireless card from Sprint for about $40 a month, check out http://forums.slickdeals.net/showthread.php?sduid=87485&t=385350&highlight=sero for better information. The PhoneAsModem plan adds $40 to the voice line already.

no, like the sprint stuff...
I have it and dont' really like it, but I need the net on the go many times...so I dont really have a choice //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif. Before signing a contract, I'd ask if there was possibly a way to try it out or something.

yeah, I was thinking the same thing.

what kind of speeds are you getting and where do you use it most? i.e. are you in a strong coverage area?

i have a verzion wireless card in order to get broadband speeds their has to be evdo coverage in your area. if not you get dial up speeds.

i have gotten up to 300kbps download speeds with it. but RARELY mostly 120-150 down.

I have sprint edge on my PPC 6700 and it rocks when you are in an edge area but kinda shitty like dialup when your not.

Make sure you figure out if it is going to be any better before you sign a contract though, sprint may have a 15 day return policy but I am not sure.

why not call you cell phone company and ask?

i was looking at it, because evdo looked good.. then i found out that evdo coverage is very limited.. mostly large metro areas only ;(
