Actually no he was someone who had worked there for close to 20 years at that point as a machinist doing the same thing dad did. The person who knew how to call dad is still there and is a friend of ours so he has all our information this other person dad knew and had worked with him but didn't socialize with him outside of work like some of the other guys who snowmobiled or had boats on the river like we did. Machinists for Mobil Oil replaced the pumps around that plant all the time. FYI there is several different kinds of machinists besides just metal working. They were a do it all Mechanic for everything. He was even sent to Jet Engine School by GE as Mobil Oil at Elwood had a Jet Engine installed he was one of 7 who were the Lead Machinists to go and be taught how to rebuild the Jet Engine they used for Electricity. They did this in 1988. They found out instead of paying 400,000 a month in Electrical Costs they could do it for half that since they were producing Jet Fuel on a daily basis.

He was sent to schooling for computers, coding, Microsoft schooling and so on paid by Mobil Oil so they had someone who could do both. They wanted it to be kept in house and to have in house computer experts. Since the past 15 years or so they have people just for computers there but up till dad retired that wasn't the case.

When he took an early out at the age of 55 they begged him and begged him to stay on till 65 because of his knowledge and his abilities as only a couple other people had them at that plant. They offered money extra vacations all sorts of stuff he refused. Because he knew he had to get out of there when Exxon took over because of how Exxon runs their plants. He knew he would die there if he didn't.

So far that is 3 times you've called me or my dad a liar. How the FECK would you know wtf happened and when? You don't! I know what happened and when. You can question all the feck you want to but you would be wrong to do so.

I don't think your dad is a liar; I think he glorified his role to be his son's hero, and I don't blame him for that. You've said your dad does machining, oil analysis, programming, and other roles as well. How could anyone serve all those roles?

Nope and you would be wrong on all fronts. He was sent to school by Mobil Oil for all of that stuff. I know I was there. I worked in the machinists shop during the summer some times. For the 2.5-3 years he was doing the coding for the program he had his own office trailer and all just for him to create the program. Back then sons/daughters of workers could stop in any time they wanted as long as they checked in with the security guard and got a helmet. And during the summers it was common for many of us to go there and work in the offices our families worked in. I have had cousins out there and my godfather out there and met some people I still call friends out there to this day. Family has worked in oil for 50 years on both sides of the family. Most have retired except the one cousin who is rich and owns oil pumps in Texas the sob!

He had a lot on his plate and he came through doing all of that and then some while he was there. If it wasn't for him teaching me at 8 years old how to build a 350, how to work on cars, electronics for the house, working on boats, jet skis, snowmobiles and how to code & build computers. I wouldn't be able to have the the knowledge I have.

He has been retired since 2000 and is now 76. He has paid a price for what he did at that plant. The fact he made it out of there alive is a miracle in itself.

I'm done better things to do like go some online gaming.

I absolutely despise the newish trend to state your thoughts as feelings to protect yourself from scrutiny and accountability, and that sounds like the argument you're making regarding opinions. Saying something is an opinion doesn't unquestionably make it an opinion. There is some grey area, but I think of opinions as beliefs on a subject that can't be factually proven or factually disproven. You can't opine something that can be factually disproven and not expect a rebuttal just because you used the word "opine" instead of "think".

The problem with that argument comes when you are talking contrary opinions about things that are already proved.

You can think/feel/opine/believe/etc. all day long that 2+2=5, but it will never change the fact that 2+2=4.
And if you post your opinion that 2+2=5 on a public forum, you should expect backlash.
If you get backlash that includes proof your opinion is wrong, but you continue to express that opinion and declare it as correct over and over, then you are just demanding to be torn apart.
