Windows XP Media Center Edition

Has anyone bought this by itself? I just got it because I hear its alot smother than Home and maybe even Pro but I noticed that there are several things that come with it if you buy a new pc already built. Like a remote, remote sensor, IR cable and TV connections on your pc. I was just wondering if any has it and uses it on their regular computer with out these things because thats the way I am going to run and Im just curious to know if there are any problems with not having the additional hardware.

I think the Media Edition itself is meant for the additional hardware
