windows vista

Well, they had to scrap SOMETHING to divert resources to the flashy new UI.. =\

But then again, I can tell you from experience that such large, infinitely expandable, and feature rich databases are a royal pain in the *** to design, much less build. Don't even get me started on a database that with possible infinite feature possibilities. I can't even begin to imagine the work involved turning all that into a file system.

Yes, but the end result if implemented well is SPEED!

Of course they scrap the hard work, it's MS. When Longhorn was the talk, MS swore they would have one working on it. LIES LIES LIES.

It's a LOT of internal work to make Vista what it is. The UI was just something to prove they did make changes. Most of the early reviews show a lot of the contrasts between XP and Vista on the inside.
The way things sound - I wouldn't even consider looking at Vista until the first service pack. If Fedora Core 7 Linux is as big an improvement over 6 as 6 was over 5 I won't even have to look at Vista.

Running Debian Etch myself. Installed Vista on a friends pc, and found it not to friendly to his soundcard...or the new one he went out and bought! It looks...pretty? But they took so much out of it, from what they originally said that I just don't see a point in upgrading. Not to mention the prohibitive cost, and the big-brotherness of it.

I'll stick with either Debian or PCLinuxOS, both are working well for me at their given tasks! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

If Linux successfully ran all Windows games I would have switched away from Microsoft years ago.
But the geeks writing and updating Linux dont seem capable of pulling it off, which is a shame.

Cedega? Wine?

Yeah, you'd think if someone can write a windows compatible os (http://www.reactos.org/en/index.html)from the ground up, they'd be able to write a good emulator for linux or even unix. I use cedega, and its worked well for some of the games I have played. So far only Dark Age of Camelot has proven untennable.
