windows vista

Yeah, don't compare a P4 to a P4 Celeron. It's apples and oranges. Reg P4's come with 512kb onboard L2 cache. Celerons have 128kb.

Celeron is a budget processor and always has been. Only decent Celeron I've ever used was the old 1.4 ghz P3 Tualatin and it had 256kb.

As for Vista, I'll wait. I'm still quite satisfied with XP.

****, i hate to hear this stuff.....I currently have a laptop with a celeron and XP in it, and am gonna upgrade to a desktop this summer and was lookin at Vista....****

I built a computer for myself for Christmas and bought XP Media Center for it. It came with a coupon to get a free copy of Vista Home Premium 32 bit. I installed Vista a few weeks ago and my pc has been more stable than with XP, and with Aero windows turned off, runs faster. I had no issues upgrading and all of my software works after getting updates. Plus it probably helped that all of the hardware I bought is Vista Ready.

Athlon dual core 3800 with a gig of ram.

my friend has a high end hp media center that came with XP media center. it has a core2 duo E6300, 4 gigs of ram, upgraded graphics card, and sata baracudas i think he said that vista is AMAZINg when you know how to use it, and have the horsepower to use it.

I got a new desktop for work that came with vista business. Well, my desktop publishing software (Pagemaker) isn't compatible with Vista, so I'm SOL if I wanna open any of my old documents.

The GUI reminds me a lot of Apple OS though. If it wasn't for my pagemaker issue, I wouldn't have any problems with vista.

i've been running vista ultimate for 4-5 months now with no problems. I'm also using an AMD turion with 1gb of ram. there are to many variables with different computers on how fast they are going to run vista. Vista is really graphics dependent. it helps to have a good video card, with a good processor and, what most people overlook is your FSB speed. it helps a lot with vista.
