I've tried switching usb ports after windows had booted. Unsure whether my usb ports are 2.0 or 3.0 though.

You switched after you booted or left it in the USB port and switched after a failed boot? USB 3.0 are typically blue.

Did you actually create a bootable USB drive or just drop the .iso file onto it? Because the latter will not work...

Based on the OP it sounds like he formatted prior. When creating a bootable USB the software formats for you. I know Rufus does the formatting.

OK so I know what I have to do. I just need to pre load the motherboard's sata controller driver prior to installation. Now how does one go about finding which in particular driver they need? I downloaded what I thought to be the driver I needed, but it's like a pack of drives Intel uses. How do I figure out which one I need?

Does the laptop have USB 2.0 and 3.0 ports? I saw an issue today with a PC on the bench where it wouldnt boot via USB 3.0, but would via 2.0.

This issue is caused by the Legacy drivers. I've experienced it multiple times.

Ok fellas im at a loss once again. I tried downloading my sata ahcic control driver and installing it prior to installation. No success. So I did abit more research and it seemed like a usb control driver would work. So i downloaded renesas usb 3.0 control driver, installed prior to os installation. No success. Im stumped. What driver does it need?

I also tried burning the iso to a dvd and installing that way but that did not work either.

If you tried from usb and from DVD then you might have a bad iso. Might have to download it again.

Tried re downloading the iso a few times from different sites, even tried the iso that doesn't have the sp1 on it already.
