ya i tried to play an avi file in winamp and does the same thing. get media player classic, it plays almost anything and its free

I actually have the same problem as him. I updated from 5.08 pro to 5.12, yeah .08 worked perfect, but in .12 - no video. Sound works fine but video does not play (and yes the stupid video window was open it opens automatically if you know how to use the options menu.) Someone should definatly give me the codecs cause I couldn't find them last night.

I'm serious, since I got 2 monitors & my TV connected to my computer, I sometimes throw the video screen on the TV (which is usually off) & forget to turn the TV on.

Try the link I posted in the first page of this thread. That codec pak may do the trick (depends on the video file type though)
