i found an old 12' crossfire dual voice coil subwoofer in my garage and cleaned it up. im trying to get it up and going for as cheap as possible. from what i understand it can either be wired to 2 or 8 ohms. i found this amplifier at walmart for 55$ -- dualav.com/mobileaudio/xpe.php. it is a 2-channel 400w amp. it states that it is 2-ohm stable, and that it can be bridged. what i am wondering is this, can i wire my subwoofer down to 2 ohms, and then bridge the amp to one channel to get approx 250-300 watts rms? or would this be completely too much? it says that it is two ohm stable in stereo operation, so i dont see why it wouldnt be able to do the same, but with just with one sub. any help is greatly appreciated. thanks.
